About Agnes
Based near Oxford, UK, I help clients worldwide navigate complex scientific challenges.
The name Agnes comes from the Greek word for “pure” - a quality that captures what I aim to bring to every project: clarity of thought, objective analysis, and purposeful scientific direction.
It also carries personal meaning, as Agnes was my grandmother’s name, a small tribute linking my work today to my family’s story.
These ideas form the foundation of Agnes Bio, expressed through five guiding principles:
- Analysis - rigorous and critical interpretation of data
- Guidance - helping teams make confident scientific decisions
- Navigation - steering projects through complexity
- Elucidation - translating data into understanding
- Strategy - aligning science with long-term goals
Together, these principles underpin all my work, helping research teams turn complex data into actionable scientific insights. Agnes Bio provides independent, flexible scientific expertise and support, tailored to each project’s needs.
About me
I’m Marie Weston, a scientist with over 20 years of experience across academia and biotech. My career began in cell signalling research, where I developed a deep appreciation for how molecular systems drive complex biological behaviour. Over time, this evolved into a focus on systems biology and AI-driven drug discovery, where I now specialise in integrating computational insights with experimental strategy.
I’ve worked internationally across the UK, USA, and New Zealand, gaining a broad perspective on how science and strategy intersect across different research environments. Much of my career has been spent in innovative biotech start-ups, where I have held senior scientific roles leading discovery projects that bridged computational and experimental disciplines. I’ve collaborated with pharma, biotech partners, and CROs, helping to translate computational predictions into biological understanding and translational outcomes across immunology, oncology, neurobiology, and metabolic disease.
I hold a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Sheffield, an MSc in Applied Bioinformatics, and am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

How I work
Every collaboration starts with understanding - your goals, your challenges, and the stage of your project.
From there, I work flexibly, providing either short-term, task-based support or ongoing strategic input, depending on what’s needed. I tailor my support to your needs - get in touch to explore how I can help your next project succeed.
